Restaurant Interior Design: A Fusion of Culture and Sustainability

For this restaurant interior we  took up recycling, upcycling and repurposing as design approaches for the interior of Chef’s Kitchen- an Indian Cuisine restaurant in Dhaka. While complying with clients functional and budgetary requirements, the cozy and warm interior environment has created a captivating dining experience for the food lovers.

Introduction:

When it comes to creating captivating dining spaces or restaurnt interior, Zero Inch Interior’s Ltd., led by Muhammad Ariful Islam, has proven expertise. In 2019, the team took on the challenge of transforming a 1000 square feet space on Satmasjid Road, Dhanmondi, Dhaka, into the vibrant Indian Cuisine restaurant interior, Chef’s Kitchen. The result? A cozy and warm restaurant interior that not only met functional and budgetary requirements but also embraced sustainable design principles.

Exploring the Vibrancy: Indian Spice Palette Inspires Restaurant Interior Design

Delving into the concept of Indian cuisine, the team drew inspiration from the rich palette of spices, vibrant colors, and local flavors. The warm tones of brown, orange, beige, and green became the defining colors for the restaurant’s interior. This choice aimed to create a warm, vibrant, and colorful dining space, especially catering to the preferences of the younger crowd.

Crafting with Purpose: Local Materials and Craft Take Center Stage

Muhammad Ariful Islam’s team at Zero Inch Interior’s Ltd. aimed not only to design a visually appealing space but also to promote local materials and craftsmanship. The challenge of a limited budget led to innovative solutions, aligning with the company’s goal of zero waste design. The team embraced adaptive reuse, incorporating recycled materials such as cane chairs, bamboo light sheds, and clay pottery light sheds. Wall decorations were crafted using reclaimed window shuttering from another project site, adding an intriguing touch. Old printing blocks and batik stamps were employed to create unique motifs, and wooden logs found new life as partitions.

Sustainable Transformation: Recycling, Upcycling, and Repurposing in Action

Chef’s Kitchen stands as a testament to Zero Inch Interior’s commitment to sustainable design. By repurposing existing elements and incorporating recycled materials, the project not only met the client’s needs but also aligned with the company’s ethos of reduce, reuse, and recycle. The result is an environmentally conscious and aesthetically pleasing restaurant interior.

Conclusion:

Chef’s Kitchen exemplifies the successful fusion of cultural inspiration and sustainable design. Zero Inch Interior’s Ltd., under the guidance of Muhammad Ariful Islam, showcases how a thoughtful approach to restaurant interior design can create spaces that are both visually stunning and environmentally responsible.
